Programming for Adults

The JCC on the Cohn Campus offers social and fitness programs for the mature adult to connect with others through an array of engaging and lively events.  From exercises for active aging, to ballroom dancing, to bridge, to the News Schmooze discussion group, you will enjoy comradery and stimulation at the JCC.

If you have always wanted to learn how to dance like the stars, now is the time. During the course, you will learn the graceful, elegant waltz and the romantic, sultry rumba.

In Ernestine Marshall’s beading class you will learn basic jewelry making and design skills to make your very own one-of-a-kind jewelry. You will also learn about tools that are used to create each piece.

This class led by Adrianne Sundheim is based on biblical literature, not specific religious teachings.

March  1-  Joseph: Another one of Jacob’s wayward (?) sons leaves home.

March 22- Delilah will be our focus as another one of the "Dirty Dozen".Was she the Biblical Mata Hari? Or was this the best crafted biblical story of all?

April 19- We will continue with Joseph, and visit Joheved, the mother of Moses.

The book this month is Our Souls at Night, by Kent Haruf.  Book Club meets every other month and features a different book each time. Come prepared to discuss the book with instructor Adrianne Sundheim and have a great time!

Have you ever wanted to learn bridge?  Do you know the basics but it’s been a while?  Come and schmooze and play and learn in a friendly environment.  Six 1 ½ hour sessions will cover the fundamentals of bridge, including bidding and the play of hand.

Express yourself! Be creative! Join us at the JCC on the Cohn Campus for an exciting crochet class taught by Judy Balber. Bring your yarn, crochet hooks, and any pattern that you wish to work on during this stress-free and relaxing class.

This social group for adults of all ages meets on the fourth Thursday of every month. A delicious lunch follows each program.

If you have always wanted to learn the ancient Chinese table game, now is the time! Please join us for an exciting Mah Jongg series hosted by Vicki Solkin!!

Join us in the Senior Lounge on Fridays for open games. Socialize, make new friends, and brush up on your favorite game. No charge, but reservations are appreciated.

Join Ruth Weston and her faithful group of Yiddish enthusiasts gather to chat, share favorite expressions and reminisce.



Enjoy engaging bi-monthly get togethers that include an exciting program, spectacular lunch, and a social activity of your choice. JetSetters is offered at the JCC on the Cohn Campus the second and fourth Thursday of every month, and offered the third Wednesday of every month.

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at USF


Along life’s journey, learning never ends! In partnership with USF, the JCC on the Cohn Campus now offers beginning computer classes and water color painting classes. Live, Learn & Grow!

  • Time:  10:30 AM – 12:00 PM
  • March 10 - United Kingdom - goals regarding Brexit and its future role in the world.
  • March 24 - Africa - as a continent and individual countries with the exception of those included in the term the “Middle East.”


This discussion group led by Pat Renfroe keeps you in the know and on top of current “hot button” issues. Explore social, political and economic issues in the news around the world and share problem solving strategies! Diverse points of view are encouraged and respected.
